Association is not cause, and your write-up should say so.
Two things go wrong in this section. The first is a default Pearson on data that is nowhere near interval or normal. The second is a discussion that quietly turns association into cause by the third paragraph. We pick the coefficient your data justifies, report scale reliability alongside it, and keep the claims inside what a correlation can support.
