Literature Review

A review argues. A summary of twenty papers is not a review.

The review most students write is a list: this author said, then that author said. The review that gets marked well is an argument — these are the camps, this is where they disagree, this is what none of them has answered, and that is my question. Same sources, different job. We build reviews thematically so the gap arrives as a conclusion rather than an announcement.

What you get

  • Sources grouped by theme, never by publication date
  • Disagreements in the field made explicit
  • The gap arrived at, not asserted in the last line
  • Recent work included so it is not dated on submission
  • Every claim traceable to a source you can open
