Read the Brief

The marking criteria are the assignment. Everything else is decoration.

Read the Brief — Assignment Sathi poster

Ask a student what their assignment is about and you get the topic. Ask what it is marked on and the answer is usually a guess. Those are different documents. Before we write anything we map the brief against the rubric: what each verb demands, how the marks are split, what the department counts as an acceptable source. Half the gap between a merit and a distinction is here, before the writing starts. Send us the brief and see what it actually asks for.

What you get

  • The command verb — analyse, evaluate, compare, discuss
  • Weighting per section, so effort follows marks
  • Word count tolerance and what counts toward it
  • Required sources: how many, how recent, what kind
  • Format rules that cost marks silently
  • Submission portal and its cut-off time
Want this handled for you? Send the brief and the deadline — the scope and price come back in writing before anything starts.
